Garry Robert Biddle, Sr., 67, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Fairmont on April 13, 1950, a son of the late John Robert Biddle and Velma Gertrude (Winemiller) Biddle Helms.
Garry had 17 years of service with Southern Ohio Coal Company at the Martinka Mine. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was Baptized at the Mt. Nebo Church of Christ and was a member of A.F. & A.M. Masonic Acacia Lodge #157 of Fairmont. His many interests included fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Wilma (Rush) Biddle; and his sons, Garry Biddle Jr. and Daniel Biddle and his fiancée, Peggy Vernon all of Morgantown; his daughter, Myra Pettis and her husband Kendall of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Kendra Pettis, Kyle Pettis, Samantha Biddle, Jonathan Biddle, Levi Biddle, Daniel Vernon, and Autumn Vernon and her fiancé, Richard Powell; and four great-grandchildren including Raelynn Powell and Rylee Powell.
Also surviving is a brother, Paul Helms and his wife Tina of Barrackville; a sister-in-law, Jerri Dale Biddle of Grafton; his aunt, Louise Winemiller of Fairmont and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth A. Biddle Sr.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Edward Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
