Fredrick Alan McIntire, 64, of Wyatt, passed away on Sept. 11, 2017, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
Alan was born on April 20, 1953, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Fredrick Junior and Nancy Lee (Shingleton) McIntire.
Alan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After that he worked for Lumberport Shinnston Gas Co. as a service technician and retired after 37 years of service.
Alan was a member of the Shinnston American Legion Post 31 and the Shinnston Loyal Order of Moose. He loved to hunt, fish, watch John Wayne movies, read Western books and spend time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his brother, David Lee McInitre, and his sister, Linda Lou McInitre. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; one daughter, Shelly Work and husband James; and one son, Daniel "DJ" Weaver, all of Fairmont. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Jacie Weaver; two grandsons, Jordyn Work and wife April of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jake Work of Fairmont; and one great-grandson, Michael Work.
Family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. today at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston. Visitation and a funeral service will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday with Pastors Dan Adkins and Chad Hutson officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery, and military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force and the Harrison County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Lord's Pantry at P.O. Box 64, Shinnston, WV 26431.
