Fleda Arlene Reid Moore, 94, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday (Feb. 18, 2017) at the Genesis Fairmont Campus Pierpont Center.
She was born June 27, 1922, in Norton, Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert B. and Elizabeth Morgan Reid of Barrackville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene S. Moore.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Fairmont and a 1940 graduate of Barrackville High School.
She married her husband, Eugene Moore, at Treasure Island, San Francisco, in July of 1944. Mr. Moore was a lieutenant with the U.S. Navy and was lost at sea on the U.S. submarine "Scamp" in December of 1944.
Fleda was a 1943 graduate of Fairmont General Hospital with degree as a registered nurse. She was employed with Fairmont General Hospital where she was a surgical nurse as well as the office nurse for the late Dr. C.J. Carter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William M. Reid in May of 2008, and her half-sister, Agnus Reid Cohen in 2015.
Mrs. Moore entrusted her arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont. She chose to be cremated; her remains will be interred with her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
