Elwood Lynn Melton Elwood Lynn Melton, 89, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Aug. 5, 2018) at Tygart Center at Fairmont Campus. He was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Everson, a son of the late George Walter Melton and Nellie Everson Melton.
He was employed by the B & O Railroad as a brakeman, having retired after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Meadowdale.
Survivors include his children: Peggy (Carroll) Bodkin of Elkins, James Melton of Four States and Robyn LeBlond of Fairmont; grandchildren: James Melton Jr. and Kayla Hoult, Jennifer (Andy) Burley, Sherrie Moore, Shane (Brieanna) LeBlond, Shawn Bodkin; great-grandchildren: Kristen Moore, Draven Burley and Brady and Katelynn Thompson, great-great-grandchildren: Riley Weekly, Ryder Thompson, Julian Oldaker and Lilah LeBlond; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Elwood was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Billie Von Hoskinson Melton who died Feb. 1, 2011; a daughter: Janet Bodkin; grandson: Jeremy LeBlond; brothers: Harold Melton and George Melton Jr. and a sister: Martha Melton. He was the last remaining member of his family.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hutson Funeral Home, 3171 Husky Highway, Farmington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor David West officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont where full military honors will be conducted. Condolences may be accessed at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com
