Elizabeth "Liz" Eileen Scales, 51, of Montana Mines, passed away at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2017) at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness.
Liz was born in Fairmont, on Aug. 29, 1966, the last surviving child born to the late John "Jack" Cross and Sylvia (Murphy) Cross.
She attended East Fairmont High School and was a member of the Busy Bee Band. She was a graduate of Webster College in Fairmont. Liz attended the Viola Church. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
Liz is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Scales; her son, Johnathon Scales of Montana Mines; her stepson, David "Davie" Scales; her granddaughter, Gracie Scales; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Barry L. Cross, Dennis "Denny" Cross and Ronald Cross, in infancy, and her sister, Vickie Ann Dillow-Messenger.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor David Myers. Interment will follow at Montana Mines Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
