Edward Eugene Presley, 70, of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, died Sunday (July 16, 2017) in his home.
He was born March 16, 1947, in Wheeling, a son of the late James H. and Dorothy C. Kingsley Presley.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Presley owned and operated E.E. Presley Inc. and Mining Dynamics Inc., both in Fairmont.
He was a member of several mining organizations, an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was a West Virginia Mountaineer fan.
Mr. Presley was a "people person," who genuinely loved his work and enjoyed the camaraderie shared with the men he worked with from laborer to management.
On June 21, 1969, he married the love of his life, Verna Howell, who survives. Celebrating 48 years of marriage, they were each others' best friend loving for "forever and a day."
Also surviving are his son, Frank Kingsley (Carla) Presley of Fairmont; his daughter, Melissa (Perry) Presley-Secco of Burgettstown; his grandchildren, Brian, Brea, Joseph and Nicholas; his sisters, Paula (Tony) Scott and Tricia (Eric) Allain; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by best friends, Mike Christy, G.R. Spindler and Jack Bartholomew; by his dogs, Cricket and Rocky; and his cat, Gracie.
A special thanks to Brenda, Virginia and Laura of Madison and Colleen and Gwen of Amedysis Hospice for their kindness and care.
To honor Mr. Presley wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Marion County, 2731 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.
