Donald's Story

Donald Ray Snodgrass, 52, of Mannington, went to be with the Lord on his birthday Saturday (Aug. 26, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1965 at Fairmont, a son of Lavonna Sue Snodgrass Long of Mannington and the late Curtis Andrew Snodgrass.
Donald is survived by three brothers, John Brian Snodgrass (Tammy) of Spencer, Thomas Lee Snodgrass of Mannington and David Curtis Snodgrass (Kim) of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews, John Snodgrass, Lee Snodgrass, Ginny Snodgrass, Brian Snodgrass, Falon Snodgrass and David Snodgrass. Also surviving is his trusting cat, Thor.
In addition to his father, Donald was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles "Chick" Long, his maternal grandparents, Lee Roy Kendall and Mamie Pearl Kendall and paternal grandparents, John Fay Snodgrass and Lona Grace (Ice) Snodgrass.
Donald was employed at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., with campus security, retiring with 25 years of service, and SIPS Coffee Shop in Mannington.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Mannington. He served as Boy Scout charter chairman and liaison with church and Scouts for Troop No. 9. Donald was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed playing and umpiring softball games and watching old Western shows, and was a film editor for TV shows. He enjoyed watching "The Walking Dead." Donald enjoyed traveling. He lived in Brazil for several years and traveled to different countries in South America, such as Peru.
Donald was a graduate of North Marion High School, Class of 1983.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Snodgrass, David Snodgrass, David Snodgrass II and Randy Mick.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Osborne and the Rev. Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
