David Scott Woods Sr., 45, of Fairmont and formerly of Douglas, Georgia, passed from this life Monday (July 17, 2017).
He was born in Fairmont, on Sept. 28, 1971, the only son of the late Paul Daniel "Danny" and Terry Lynn Merrifield Woods.
David was Methodist by faith. He had attended East Fairmont High School and graduated in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked as a manager in the maintenance department at West Virginia University.
He was a very active leader in the 4-H program and was a member of the Big Foot Tribe. He was known to be a "Mr. Fit It" because of his analytical mind. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and was an avid fan of both the Steelers and the Mountaineers.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife of seven years, Terrie Lorraine Oliver Woods; two sons, David S. "Scott" Woods Jr. and Jerod Preston Scott both of Douglas, Georgia; his daughter, Michaela Woods at home; one sister, Paula (Jerry) Johns of Douglas, Georgia; two aunts, Rose (Charles) Woods and Ann Anderson; several cousins, including Jeff Haught, Jeff Campbell, and Stacey and Cindy Woods; close family friends, David Wolford and Jennifer Keefover.
David requested that memorial contributions be made in his name to: 4-H Camp Mar-Mac, 4-H County Road, Farmington, WV 26571.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont. Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Haught officiating. Following the service, his body will be cremated.
