Daniel Melvin Mullenax
July 14, 1940 - February 15, 2019
Danny was born on July 14, 1940, the son of the late Mabel Mullenax Smith and the late Charles Frederick Mullenax. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1960, where he was a member of the football team. He was a member of the Nazarene Church of Mannington. Danny was a 17 year Bladder Cancer survivor, and the 2013 Marion County Cancer Survivor of the Year. A proud member of the WoodCutters and a lifelong Husky sports fan, Danny loved nothing more than watching football in the stadium he helped to build. Danny never met a stranger and loved to sit and chat with anyone who had the time. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.
Danny started his adult life in the Air Force, before beginning a career as a Coal Miner. He, then, worked 21 years and retired from Harrison Power Station.
Danny is survived by the love of his life, Jackie Mullenax. The couple was together for sixty years and married for fifty-eight. He is also survived by his children: Todd Mullenax and his wife Kristen, and Tracy O'Brien and her husband Steve. His grandchildren were his "buddies." Maddie Muniz and her husband Zack, Mackenzie Mullenax and her partner, Darren, and Abby O'Brien, along with his grandson Patrick Sullivan O'Brien, who preceded him in death in 2010. He always referred to Patrick as his "lil Buddy." He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. Danny and Jackie became especially close to their nephew Eddie and his wife Vicky Barron in the latter years of his life.
Danny is additionally survived by his sisters, Maxine Brownlee and Sue Fullen Angelino, and his brother Gary Mullenax. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marie Cotrel, Jean Hohman, and Mary Muzichuck.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the VA Medical Center, Dr. Arnett and his nurse Crystal, the medical staff at Fairmont General Hospital, the many nurses and doctors at Ruby Memorial Hospital, and the Amedysis staff who looked after him during his final days.

I have many fond memories of talks with Danny at the Farmington Reunion. And he was always so good to my brother Lindsey.
My sympathy is with you 3 in this trying time. But I know you too have many fond memories and they will see you through. Prayers for all.
