Dana Stalnaker, 84, of Mannington, passed away at 9:29 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Braxton County, May 15, 1933, a son of the late Harley and Amanda Carr Stalnaker.
On Oct. 26, 1973, he married Marilyn Ann Shea Stalnaker who survives. Also surviving are his children, Nancy Perotto and her husband Louie, Peora, Vickie McCoy and her fiancé Mark Kisner Sr., Bridgeport, Christine Shelton and her husband Rae, Otter Lake, Michigan, Kerri Beam and her husband James, Mannington, Dana Harley Stalnaker and his wife Shawna, Rock Ledge, Florida, Mitchell Stalnaker and his wife Kari, Lincoln Park, Michigan, Kevin Miller and his wife Trina, Fairmont, Scott Miller and his wife Beverly, Fairmont, and his daughter-in-law, Brigitte Miller, Farmington, 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Dorsey Stalnaker, Mannington, Ercie Stalnaker, Pensacola, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Miller, four brothers, Delbert, Darrell, Elwood, and Donald Stalnaker, and one sister Arlene Ross.
Dana was a Korean War veteran having served with the United States Army. He served several years after the war in the Army Reserves. He retired from Consol Energy, Robinson Run Mine, with 32 years service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 629, Fairmont and the American Legion Post 31, Shinnston. He was a jokester who loved company and his dog "Pepe." He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, and woodworking. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed.
The family will receive friends from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 20 at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston. Cremation will follow the service. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown at a later date, with full military rites. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com.
