Cora Lee Starsick, 82, of Mannington, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2018), after a courageous 10-year fight against cancer. Cora was a fighter that far outlived every physicians' prognosis.
Cora was a lifelong active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mannington, a talented award-winning portrait artist, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and retiree of Fairmont General Hospital, where she worked as a nurse's aid for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jack Starsick Sr.; her brother Leland Stewart; her mother, Emma Louise Haskins Stewart; and her father, Roy Russell Stewart, of Littleton. Surviving siblings include Gratta Lohr of Springfield, Ohio and Mary Louise Corning of Dallas, Texas. Surviving children are Deborah Harris, of Fairmont, Joseph Starsick Jr. of Charleston, Ricki Starsick of Fairmont and Russell Starsick of Joetown.
The family would like to thank Emily Eardy, Randy Ramage and Karen Lawson of Amedisys Hospice Care in Anmoore, for their excellent care and attention while Cora was in Home Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family wishes to make donations to American Cancer Society
