Cleta's Story

Text size

Cleta Sue Kovach (Ott) Wilson, 64, entered into eternal peace on Sunday (June 19, 2016) at home in Fairmont, following a battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Cleta was born on July 29, 1951, in Fairmont, daughter of the late George Kovach and Paula Young.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her cherished grandmother, Anna Basanda Kovach; and beloved aunt, Frances Eloise; and uncle, Joe Kovach.
Cleta graduated from Fairmont State College with a b.s. in psychology and later with a master of science in education from the University of Dayton and master's plus from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. As a licensed mental health counselor who specialized in crisis intervention, she devoted her life to social work and hoped to someday see the stigma that is linked to mental illness be erased. She was a talented crafter and jewelry maker who was most at peace when riding with her husband on their Harley Davidson. Family and friends will always remember her incredible sense of humor and infectious laugh, which stayed with her well into the late stages of her illness.
Among those who will miss her forever are her high school sweetheart and love of her life, husband Gregory Roland Wilson; daughter, Valerie (Dustin) Morris of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; son, David Ott Jr. of Steubenville, Ohio; step son, Erik (Michelle) Wilson of Fairmont; granddaughter, Mackenzie Wilson of Fairmont; brothers, Keith Kovach, Brian Kovach and Marshall Young; and dearest cousin, Ranie (Ronald Reeves) Kovach.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Cleta's memory at http://act.alz.org/goto/cleta, in hopes that a cure may someday be found.
