Claudette Ann Price, 85, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Fairmont Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 15, 1932, at Smithfield in Wetzel County, the daughter of the late Claude M. and Thelma L. (Crawford) Price.
Miss Price was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and West Virginia University. She worked at Higbees Company Department Store in Cleveland, Ohio for several years. She retired as the chief publisher of the LSU Press for Louisiana State University in 1998. Following her retirement, she returned to Fairmont. She was an active member of the Genealogical Society of Marion County.
She is survived by two nephews, William Joseph Price, IV of Morgantown, Colonel Arthur C. Price and his wife Gabi, of Bellville, Illinois; a niece, Christine Ice and her husband James, of Murraysville, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Teresa M. Plum of Morgantown; eleven great-nieces and nephews, Hannah Price, Jordan Price, Kobe Price, Ryan Price, William Price, Wyatt Price, Alan Price, Jurni Price, Jessica Ice, Joshua Ice, and Olivia Ice; and many cousins and good friends.
In addition to her parents, Claudette was preceded in death by her brother, William Joseph Price, III on July 28, 2010.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at Pricetown Cemetery in Wetzel County.
