Charles Robert Stevens, 84, of Plum Run Road, Mannington, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 2017) at his residence.
He was born May 5, 1933, in Monongah, a son of the late Owen W. and Ethel Lula Triplett Stevens.
Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Lucille Fluharty Stevens, whom he married on Oct. 9, 1954.
Also surviving are three daughters, Vicky L. Anderson (Dan) of Plum Run, Donna Jo Stevens of Mannington and Robin L. Prickett (Larry) of Monumental; one son, Charles Orval "Chuck" Stevens (Karen) of Seneca Rocks; grandchildren, Josh and Jacob Prickett, Derek and Rachel Stevens, Nathan and Kyle Stevens and Jessica Stevens; one great-grandson, Jackson Stevens.
Also surviving are two sisters, Clara Mae Smell of Fairmont and Shirley Toothman (Dolan) of Plum Run, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Stevens and George "Bub" Stevens.
Charles was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the UMWA District 31, with 60 years of employment. He retired from Consol, Loveridge Mine No. 22, Sugar Run Portal. In the late 1950s, he drove race cars at Eldora, building his own cars. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, watching sports, hunting and fishing. He loved his dog, "Daisy Mae" very much.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
