Charles Ronald "Ron" Pethtel, 69, passed away Dec. 26, 2017 in Greer, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Charles Pethtel and Bessie Genevieve and Frank Ross.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lavaughn Kerrigan Pethtel of Greer, South Carolina; a daughter, Daphnae Pethtel of Greer, South Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Pethtel of Penrose, North Carolina; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert L. and Hazel Pethtel of Fairmont, and Dwaine and Brenda Ross of Baltimore, Maryland; and a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Carlo Tarley of Monongah.
He is also survived by four granddaughters, Julia Pethtel, Emily Pethtel, Rebecca Pethtel and Macie Pethtel.
Ron was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ethan Pethtel and Davis Pethtel.
A native of Fairmont, he was a retired union painter and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Ron worked in the Washington D.C. area for many years before retirement. He had many hobbies throughout the years and liked making jewelry and Indian dream catchers, and often attended Indian Pow Wows on the East Coast and New England states. He was a history buff and loved his family, and especially his beautiful, musically talented granddaughters who sing gospel music.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary, Greer, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home with Reverend Reuben Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park following the service.
