Charles L. "Buster" Evans Jr. was born July 14, 1952, and passed unexpectedly on June 6, 2017.
He was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and joined the U.S. Air Force on April 27, 1972, and retired March 31, 1992. Charles worked for the Bureau of Fiscal Service as administrative assistant in Parkesburg.
Charles is preceded in death by his beautiful, beloved wife, Rosalie Evans; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Annie Garrett; father, Lucius C. Evans; a sister, Wanda Stricklin; his nephew, Darrell E. Cook; his nieces, DeVenda A. Williams and Nasson A. Johnson; his grandchildren, Dominique Evans and Demetris Evans; his brothers-in-law, Lester Walker, Elum Johnson and William E. Boone.

Evans Jr. is survived by his mother, Delores Evans of Fairmont; his brother, Dennis Evans of Fairmont; his sisters, Hollis Cook of Fairmont, Beverly (Robert) Stubbs of Fairmont, Charlena (Jimmy) Jones, Vikki (Clifford) Johnson of Fairmont and Evon (Kenneth) Andrews of Pennsylvania; his children, Charles L. (Diane) Evans III, Tracie (Rudy Liddell) Evans, Delores (Arthur Broadnax) Evans, Tyrell Smith and Antonio (Shauntel Marbury) Evans; his grandchildren. LaMeekia (Raheem) Kirby, Charles L. Evans IV, Markell Evans, Naomi Wiggins, Travon Horton, Tyivon Horton, Tavon Horton, Tyaira Horton, Taevon Horton, Assata Broadnax, Diquez Smith, Kamarii Evans and Jaharii Evans; his brothers-in-law, Robert L. Johnson, Charles Johnson and Lonnie (Lanell) Johnson; his sisters-in-law, Martha Boone, Lola Roland-Johnson, Fannie White and Donna (Melvin) Hawkin; lifelong friends, William Proctor, Houston Lee and Russ Adams; a special friend, Charlotte M. Smith; and many nieces, nephew, cousin and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morning Star Baptist Church, 100 McKinney St, Fairmont. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Wesley Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
