C. Ray Ashley, 81, of Worthington, passed away Tuesday (June 14, 2016) at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.
He was born March 4, 1935, on Cunningham Run, Shinnston, to the late George C. and Pinkie Alice Stinson Ashley.
Ray is survived by his wife, Madonna Ashley, whom he married April 22, 2014; his sons, Leonard Ray Ashley of Ohio and Scott A. Ashley of Arizona; daughter, Regina Roelle of Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler, Mitchell, Nicole, Rene, Heather and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Cameron and Colin; brother, Bernard Ashley; and sisters, Mrs. Loma Leeson, Mrs. Carl (Virginia) Hescht, Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Greaver and Mrs. Norman (Margie) McDougal.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded by his first wife, Glenna Ashley; second wife, Helen Louise Ashley; brothers, Raymond Ashley, Edward Ashley, Harold Ashley and Everett Ray Ashley; and sisters, Reva Griffin, Mrs. George (Ruby) Shaffer, Mrs. Glenn (Mary) Parks and Dorothy Root.
Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked and retired as a welder from General Motors.
Ray was a member of the Bi-County Nutrition Center of Shinnston. He was also a member of Pine Bluff Methodist Church. Ray enjoyed walking and spending time with his dog, Sugar.
At Ray's request there will be no services.
