Cathleen J. Hernandez Coburn, 82, beloved sister, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Cathy A. Coburn-Quick, on Thursday (Dec. 28, 2017).
She was a graduate from St. Peter's High School. She worked over 20 years at Shoney's restaurant and later retired to Conway, South Carolina. She volunteered for many organizations in Conway. Family was important to her, and she loved spending time with them. Cathy was a friend to her brother, a kind and caring mother to her children and an inspiration to her six grandchildren. Her hobbies were reading her favorite novels, attending Broadway shows, listening to all kinds of music, traveling and sewing and crafts. She was a wonderful cook and always had an ear to listen. Cathy was a joy spreader. She possessed a joy and love inside her that overflowed and infected those around her. Cathleen was a devoted Catholic and loved to spend time praying and talking about her faith. She was an excellent Christian example for her grandchildren. She was always there for her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Cathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Coburn; both parents, Manuel and Josephine Hernandez; step-mother, Anna Hernandez; and her sister, Dolores M. Hernandez.
She is survived in death by her brother, Manuel Hernandez of Fairmont; her son, Patrick M. Coburn and grandchildren, Patrick T. and Nichol M. Coburn of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; daughter, Yvette Hunt and son-in-law, George (Kevin) Hunt and grandchildren, Michelle and Aubrey Compton of Bridgeport; and daughter, Cathy A. Coburn-Quick and son-in-law, Tony Quick and grandchildren, Anna and Gabrielle (Gabby) Quick of Conway, South Carolina.
She is also survived by several uncles and aunts, Angelo and Elvida Jacquez, Jake and Charlotte Jacquez and Betty Jacquez of Fairmont, Rose and Jim Cliburn of Pasadena, Texas, Lupe and Darrell Jordan of Junction City, Kansas; and several cousins.
A memorial service for Cathleen will be held in Fairmont in June of 2018 and further details will be given at a later time.
