Catherine Lucille Brummage, 90, of Fairmont, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday (Dec. 2, 2017) at St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born June 23, 1927, in McCurdysville, a daughter of the late Hubert C. Grubb and Estell (Morris) Grubb. Catherine was employed by Westinghouse Corporation in her early working years and in later years by Fairmont State College. She was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church.
Catherine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Herb Haines of Bridgeport; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lois Brummage of Fairmont; and her brother, Hubert Grubb, Jr. of Fairmont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gil Haines and wife Jamie, Brian Haines and wife Mary, Melissa Hutson and husband Eric, all of Bridgeport, and Christopher Ables of Coral Springs, Florida; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brice, and Trent Haines, Karee and Kaitlyn Hutson, and Gavin Haines; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Eugene Brummage in November 1963; her brothers, Donald Grubb, Calvin Grubb, and Ray Grubb; a sister, Angnora Tennant; sisters-in-law Marilee Grubb, Sara Jo Grubb, Helen Grubb, and Mary Jane Grubb; and brother-in-law George Tennant.
The family would like to thank the staff and management of St. Barbara's Nursing Home for their care and compassion, and West Virginia Caring for their assistance during her critical time.
In accordance with Catherine's wishes, her body will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. Burial at Saint Luke Cemetery will follow at a later date.
