Carolyn Ann Rudy Byrne, registered nurse, 65, of Fairmont, passed away Friday (Feb. 23, 2018) at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1952, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Cleo "Doc" and Mary Haddix Rudy.
Carolyn was a 1970 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She earned her LPN degree from Manassas Virginia and her RN degree from Delaware. She retired from United Hospital Center. She had previously worked at both Fairmont General Hospital and Monongalia General Hospital. She enjoyed bowling and traveling. She also loved her cats, Milky and Sammy.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Byrne of Fairmont and David Byrne of Richmond, Virginia; and her very special grandchildren, Zachary Byrne and Devin Byrne; and a great-granddaughter, Makya Byrne. Carolyn is survived by her loving companion of 10 years, Jim Moody.
Also surviving are her brothers, Edward (Linda) Rudy, of Elkins and Steven (Kim) Rudy of Charles Town; and her sisters, Cathy Laudrille, of Fairmont, Sharon Curry and fiancé, Marvin Ice, of Tennessee, and Christie (Randy) Rodgers of Virginia; several nieces and nephews, and the father of her children, Bill Byrne, of Virginia.
Family and friends may pay respects from 5-8 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
