Carl Martin, 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday (Dec. 30 2017) with wife of 60 years Ardella and daughter Carla at his side.
Carl was born Sept. 10, 1934 in Fairmont, to Edward and Della Martin. After graduating high school, he enrolled and served four years in the Navy. He and Ardella married in 1958 and had three children. Their oldest son, Gregory, passed away in 2001. Son Steven lives in Parkersburg, with wife, Doreen. Daughter of Carla lives in Sebring, Florida.
After raising his children, Carl decided he wanted to serve his Lord and went to Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas for two years (1969-1971). His love for the Lord led him to preach from 1971 to 1997 combining preaching with secular work. His faith kept him active in serving God until he was physically unable to be out.
Next to his wife and children, Carl is survived by his sister, Mary Alice Moore, her husband Fred, Aunt Rhoda Vandergrift in Belington, five grandchildren, Sarah, Jason, Tori, Matthew and Daniel and six great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Dillon, Elijah, Sariah, Kaylyn and Brynn.
Besides his parents, he was preceeded in death by infant brother Richard, son Greg Martin, brothers Charles (wife Norma), and Don (wife Norma). Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Sebring Parkway Church of Christ.
