Candida “Connie” Martello, 95, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born at Norton in Randolph County a daughter of the late Dominick Bertelli and Mary (Biasi) Bertelli.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony F. Martello, Sr. in January of 1991.
She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Connie was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She had been active in the Women’s Society. Her many interests included; Bowling, playing cards, word search and jig saw puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren.
Mrs. Martello is survived by three sons, David Martello and his wife Joann of New York, Anthony Martello of Fairmont and Joe Martello and his wife Debra of North Carolina; a daughter, Barbara San Antonio and her husband Thomas of Fairmont; a daughter-in-law, Jane Martello of Fairmont; her grandchildren and spouses, Tommy San Antonio, Denise and Curtis Burton, Joseph and Jennifer Martello, Patrick and Marisa Martello and Michelle Martello, Joseph “J.J. “Martello, Jr. and eleven great grandchildren, Natalia, Daniella and Troy Burton, Logan, Lucas, Dylan, Brody, Alexis, William and Joseph Martello and her special great granddaughter, her angel Brooklyn Burton.
Also surviving are two brothers and their wives, David and Dottie Bertelli of Norton and Frank and Lilian Bertelli of Norton; two sisters and their spouses, Becky and Joe Manolidis of Norton, Gloria Bertelli; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bertelli of Wheeling and Mary Bertelli of Elkins and several nieces and nephews, including, Joe Merendino, Sr. , Carmela Merendino and Patricia Greco.
In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by four brothers, Tony Bertelli, Fredo Bertelli, Joe Bertelli and Robert Neal Bertelli who died in infancy; a brother-in-law, Charles Stanley; her three sisters, Dena Bertelli, Dora Stanley and Nicky Bertelli and a sister-in-law, Nancy Bertelli.
Mrs. Martello’s Family would like to thank Dr. Ang for his dedication and loving care, Sister Stella for all her visits, love and prayers. Her caregivers, Mary Jo, Cindy and Nikki for all their love and care.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Sunday from 1pm to 8pm. A Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:30 pm by Sister Stella Cronauer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11: 00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Maryland Avenue by Rev. Walter M. Jagela. Committal Services will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
