Brenda Maxine Swiger


Brenda Maxine Swiger, 76, of Lumberport, passed away 8:48pm, Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born in Lumberport, July 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Howard Kirk and Minnie Copenhaver Cottrill. On July 22, 1959, she married Robert A. Swiger, who preceded her in death on July 8, 2002. Surviving are one son, Denny Swiger and his wife Barbara, Lumberport, one daughter, Shirley Cunningham and her husband David, Cunningham Run, grandchildren, Lori Beth Cunningham Hutson and her husband Darren, Becca Cunningham Zirkle and her husband Nathaniel, all of Cunningham Run, Scott Pugh, Todd Pugh and his wife Jennifer, Tami Jo Brown and her husband Andy, all of Morgantown, great grandchildren, Jackson, Lorren, and Hadley Hutson, Noah Zirkle, and Colton, Paisley, Adam, and Emily Pugh, her siblings Bobby Joe Beatty and his wife Betty, St. Mary's, Linda Heinzelmann and her husband Fred, Eagle River, AK, Susie Harris and her husband Virgil, Killeen, TX, her sister-in-law, Shirley Mae Dunigan, Metz, and several nieces and nephews.
Brenda was a homemaker. She attended Lumberport High School and was a member of the Lumberport Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bingo at several locations and will be missed by many of her bingo friends. She liked family gatherings, picnics, and Christmas. Brenda loved her children and grandchildren and was very much looking forward to the arrival of her new grandbaby.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Monday, where funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, August 13, with Pastor Homer Ham officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Swiger family.
