Billy Richard Williams, Sr., 81, of Farmington, No. 9 community, passed away Friday (March 2, 2018) at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport with his loved ones by his side. He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Harrison County, a son of the late Thomas R. Williams, Jr. and Evelyn Ruth Allen Williams.
Billy was employed by Southern Ohio Coal Co.'s Martinka Mines as a coal miner for many years. He was a member of the UMWA. He loved to hunt and fish and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his neighbors, family and friends. He was a member of the Swisher Hill Union Mission Church.
Survivors include two sons, Billy R. (Michelle), Williams, Jr., of Fairmont and Ronnie Williams of Farmington; a granddaughter, Rachel Williams Moran and Jonathan Moran of Fairmont; a grandson, Eli Moran; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Freeman of Farmington and Loretta Freeman Brown of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Freeman Williams who died in 1993; a sister, Joann Stevens; a brother, Robert G. Williams; three brothers-in-law, Aulda "Junie" Freeman, Jr., Aubrey "Butch" Freeman, and Owen "Junior" Stevens; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aulda G. and Bernice Pauline Freeman.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hutson funeral Home, 3171 Husky Highway, Farmington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Chad Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
