Billy's Story

Billy Dale Boggs, 76, of Pleasant Valley, passed away Saturday (September 3, 2016) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Richwood on Aug. 24, 1940, a son of the late Ricie Boggs and Ida Hedger Boggs.
Billy graduated from Richwood High School and Charleston Business College. He was a retired machinist, first working a Bradshaws Hydraulics in Fairmont, and he was last employed at Morgantown Machine.
His many interest included visiting flea markets, collecting coins and working on cars.
Most important to him were his family, especially his grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Beverly K. (Cottrell) Boggs; his children, sons, Justin Boggs and his girlfriend, Carley Halpenny of Fairmont, Cody Cottrell of Fairmont and Bobby Boggs and his wife Cindy of Shinnston; daughters, Lisa Sypolt and her husband Donald of Fairmont, Chloe Cottrell of Fairmont and Terry Bailey of Fairview; his grandchildren, Trevor Sypolt, Sophie Sypolt, Olyviah Boggs, Natasha Boggs, Chris Hickman, Alfred Hickman, Davin Boggs, Gabrielle Boggs, Jeremy Boggs and Dylan Bailey; and a great grandchild, Kaydence Helmick.
Also surviving are his brothers, Bobby Boggs of Elkins, Kenneth Boggs of Richwood and Randy Boggs of Virginia; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Cottrell of Virginia, David Cottrell of Pennsylvania, Ryan Cottrell of Carolina and Rusty Cottrell of Carolina; his father-in-law, Burl Cottrell of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Boggs; two grandchildren, Zoey Coal Sypolt and Remington Coal Sypolt; sisters, Brenda Boggs, Roberta Boggs, Debbie Boggs, Robin Boggs and Marge Donahue and his mother-in-law, Rose Cottrell.
Family and friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
