Betty Jean Nuzum, 88, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, (Dec. 27, 2017).
She was born in Mannington on Dec. 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Ira L. Parks, Sr. and Addie Grace (Wright) Parks. Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She did volunteer work for the Fairmont Senior Center, and was a member of the Oakwood Road Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Samuel R. Nuzum Jr. and wife Judy, of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Rick Nuzum and wife Tina, and Joni Nuzum-Mason and husband Junior; five great-grandchildren, Clay Nuzum, Laynie Nuzum, Deiadra Miller, Tyler Butler, and TySean Mason; her brothers, Jack Parks and wife Carolyn, of Fairmont, and Ira Parks Jr. and wife Shirley, of Rock Lake; and her sister, Wilma Pazdric, of Mentor, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Samuel R. Nuzum and her sister, Rose Jones.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and Nurse Karen Shriver for their kind and compassionate care.
In keeping with Betty's wishes, her body will be cremated.
Friends and family may call from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Evangelist Brent Gallagher officiating.
