Betty Jean Mason, 81, formerly of Chatham Hill, Farmington, departed this life Sunday (Sept. 17, 2017) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born April 25, 1936 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Calvin and Kathline McNeal.
Betty was a custodian for the United States Postal Service in Farmington, having retired after many years. She was Baptist by faith, being a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church on Chatham Hill. She enjoyed music, her family and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Mason, of Farmington, Kenneth Mason, of Fairmont, Stephen Mason, of Farmington and Alfred (Joni) Mason, Jr., of Fairmont; three daughters, Glenda Mason, of Clarksburg, DeAnna (Marvin) McAtee, of Bridgeport and Shelly (Michael) Foose, of Charleston; three sisters, Clementine Smith, Nancy Burns and Virginia McNeal Tyler; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Alfred E. Mason; two sons, Kelley and Daryl Mason; and five siblings, Helen, Mary, Campbell, Calvin and Adeline McNeal.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington.
