Betty Louise Gump, 90, of Metz, died Wednesday (June 28, 2017) at Monongalia General Hospital.
She was born Feb 7, 1927, at Metz, a daughter of the late David Arthur and Bertha O. Dodd Lemley.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Freda (Stephen) Moore of Mannington, Sandra Thomas of Fairmont, Donna (Kent) McMahan of St. James City, Florida, Debra Gump (David Evans) of Mannington, Ronald (Donna) Gump, of Vass, North Carolina, and Larry (Bessie) Gump of Metz; a friend, Terry Morgan of Metz; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Hershey L. Gump, on May 27, 1982; six brothers, Norman, Glen, Lawrence, Earl, Gerald and Charles Lemley; and a son-in-law, Larry Thomas.
Betty was a member of Women of Moose, Chapter 1054 for 33 years, and was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed bowling, working puzzles and serving on the election board at Metz.
Family and friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington. The Women of the Moose will have a service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Coon officiating. Interment will be at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
