Bernice Faye Sickles, 79, of Fairview, passed away Saturday (Oct. 21, 2017) in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
She was born Feb. 7, 1938, daughter of the late David and Ida Moore Harris.
She was an avid Mountaineer fan and loved attending games. Bernice was civic minded and served as councilwoman for the Town of Fairview and was a proud member of the Democratic party. She taught ceramics in her home and she and her husband, David, sold handcrafted hardwoods at many local craftshows. She loved her camp and friends at Big Bear Lake as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved gardening and yard work.
Bernice is survived by her two children, Richard "Rick" Sickles and wife Brenda of Monumental and Brenda Haught and husband Glenn of Fairview; three grandchildren, Dana Haught, Derrick Sickles and wife Abigail, and Ryan Sickles; four great-grandchildren, Audrina Sickles, Dyer Thomas, Hendrix Sickles, and Tanner Sickles; and special friends, Clarence and Bridget Matthews.
In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, David Franklin Sickles; and a brother, Wilfred William Harris.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Mon General Hospital Critical Care Unit for their unwavering care after her past surgery.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street, Fairview. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Randy Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
