Bernard's Story

Bernard Lee Pyles, 79 years of age, passed away Thursday (May 12, 2016) at his residence.
He was born in Farmington, to the late Fred William and Dorothy (Brookover) Pyles.
He graduated from Farmington High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran honorably serving his country and a Streetsboro, Ohio, resident since 1971. He has been employed as a machine operator at Filmco for 37 years, retiring in 2002.
His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, gardening and watching baseball. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved very much, and leaving them very special memories that they will always cherish.
On Feb. 2, 1960, he married Loretta (Weaver) Pyles from Idamay, who survives at their home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Tina (Doug) McMullen of Hiram, Ohio, and Christine (Jay) Woodson Jr. of Streetsboro, Ohio; siblings, Carl Pyles of Fairmont and Patricia Bland of Farmington; four grandchildren, Tara (Jason) Gage, Serena Woodson, Laura (William) Prochazka and John (Alyse)?McMullen; and three great-grandchildren, Haley, Matthew and Maximillian Gage.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lawrence Pyles, Joan Green and Katherine Pyles.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on May 24, 2016 in Mantua, Ohio, with military honors by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Katy Church of God with Pastor Drew Long officiating.
