Anthony's Story

Anthony J. Arcure, 92, of Fairmont, and formerly of Farmington, died Saturday (April 22, 2017).
He was born April 21, 1925, in Fairmont, a son of the late Nicholas and Leena Datillo Arcure.
Anthony was a local business owner for many years, having begun his career with his family's business, Datillo's Produce in Fairmont, after having served in World War II.
Anthony went on to work for Manchin Furniture and Carpet in Farmington, and also Arcure's Quick Mart in Farmington. In later years, he was employed at Wholesale Carpet Outlet in Fairmont.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed both watching and playing baseball. When he was younger, he was actively involved in North Marion High School athletics and was a member of the Woodcutters. He was also a longtime member of the St. Peters Catholic Church in Farmington.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Margaret Terlosky Arcure; four children, Marjorie (John) Annan, Fairmont, Carol Manchin, Mount Clare, Dr. Tina (Jim) Yost, Fairmont, and John (Jean) Arcure, Fairmont; eight grandchildren, Angela (Chad) Hager, John (Alissa) Manchin III, Christina (Jim) Manchin-Newlon, Mike (Ali) Arcure, Dr. John David Arcure, Dr. Jess Arcure, Nicole Annan and Anthony Yost; eight great-grandchildren, John Manchin IV, Olivia Price, Lauren Manchin, Ethan Hager, Claira Hager, Ava Manchin, Angelo Manchin and Anthony Manchin; two brothers, Mike (Beverly) Arcure, Fairmont, and Tom (Rose) Arcure, Ohio; a sister, Joanne (Ronald) Blankenship, Fairmont; sister-in-law, Teresa Arcure, Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Arcure.
Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., followed by a vigil service at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Farmington at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Father Vincy Illickal as celebrant. Interment will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont with full military graveside honors.
