Davylin Ann VanGilder, 71, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (March 1, 2018) at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Marion County on July 22, 1946, a daughter of the late Clyde Van Gilder and Davylin (Corbin) VanGilder.
Ann attended Victory Baptist Church, and she was a graduate of East Fairmont High School in 1965. She spent her time reading and enjoyed doing various arts and crafts projects. Friends and family will remember Ann as a kind, caring, friendly person who always had a smile for everyone.
She is survived by her brother, Clyde VanGilder, Jr. and his wife Sylvia Jean of Fairmont; two sisters, Barbara VanGilder of Fairmont, and Evelyn Watkins and her husband Junior of Fairmont; two stepbrothers, Charlie Bunner and his wife Mary of Fairmont, and Edward Bunner of Fairmont; a stepsister, Deloris Suppa and her husband Bob of Katy; and a sister-in-law, Deborah VanGilder Short.
Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Vicki Wood, Darla and Lee Heffner, Mike and Kim VanGilder, Teresa and Jeff Minney, Davylin and Todd Tatterson, Ricky and Crystal VanGilder, and Michelle and Bill Williams; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her stepmother, Wilma VanGilder; a brother, Bill VanGilder; a half-brother, Doyle Corbin; and two nephews, Jimmy VanGilder and Jonathan VanGilder.
Friends and family may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
