Charles Pollock Charles Pollock Jr., 85, of Rachel, passed away Tuesday (May 8, 2007) at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Rachel, a son of the late Anna and Charles Pollack, Sr. Mr. Pollock graduated from Farmington High School in 1939 and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. On April 2, 1951, he opened Pollock’s General Store in Rachel. He and his wife ran the store together, and throughout the years he enjoyed his many customers very much. Charlie was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 388 in Mannington and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed politics, following the news and was a fan of many sports. His favorite teams were the Yankees and Notre Dame. Mr. Pollock is survived by his wife, Anna Gouzd Pollock, whom he married Oct. 26, 1945; three sons, Charles Pollack III of Rachel, Tom Pollock and wife Corki of Fairmont, and Anthony Pollock and wife Connie of Rachel; sisters Rose Napalo of Cleveland,Ohio and Anna Kuchko of Milton, Fla.; eight grandchildren Elias, Joe and Teresa Pollack, Aaron Pollock, Kristen Oates, Carrie, Hanna, and Samantha Pollock; seven great-grandchildren, Elias Michael Pollack, Riley Grey Pollack, Ashton Ryan Pollack, Lane and Luke Pollock, Garrett and Tatum Oates. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pollock was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patty Rohanna Pollack; two brothers, John and Mike Pollack; and a sister, Mary “Kitty” Hornyak. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society at 122 S. High St. Morgantown, WV 26505 or 1-800-227-2345 or Cassie’s Toy Box in care of Huntington Banks, Middletown branch, 78 Middletown Road, Fairmont, WV. Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, on Thursday from 12-9 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington with the Rev. Father Francois Gonda Babulu, celebrant. Interment will be in the Viewpoint Cemetery, Rachel. Full military graveside honors will be rendered by the Marion County Veterans Council.
